About Us
The PLUS Company, Inc., an acronym for People About Us Learning Useful Skills, was established in 1972 by the Nashua Association for Retarded Citizens. For a short time, the program was located at Mount Hope School, but soon outgrew the space and moved to an old mill building on Lake Street. In 1978, the agency was incorporated as a non-profit entity.

In 1980, a State of New Hampshire court order mandated that residents of Laconia State School return to live in their communities. This resulted in the reduction of institutional based services and increased need for community based services for people with developmental disabilities. This situation also resulted in the rapid growth of The PLUS Company. In 1981, the organization moved to the Nashua Foundation Industrial Park. After almost 10 years at the location, The PLUS Company closed its sheltered workshop, and moved to its present location at 240 Main Dunstable Road. About Us In 2005, The Progress Center opened its doors at 1 Progress Avenue in Nashua making way for more adult education classes and enrichment programs. Along with our Nashua offices, PLUS also has offices in Tewksbury and Lawrence, Massachusetts.

The goals and objectives of The PLUS Company have evolved to maximize options for vocational, social and financial independence and integration for adults with disabilities. Today, the vocational focus of The PLUS Company has shifted away from sheltered workshops to employment opportunities in industries. Group homes for large numbers of people are giving way to individually supported home environments. The result has created dramatic improvements in the lives of the people.

About Us The PLUS Company believes that it is the right of all individuals to have the opportunity to contribute to society. We offer the opportunity of human dignity, self respect and self reliance by promoting an individual's ability to function in all social settings so that disabilities are not barriers to challenges or success. The PLUS Company will continue to promote advocacy and community efforts that enhance the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities.
