Individual Community Resources
The goal of the Individual Community Resources Program is to provide customized services towards a personal goal or need for the person with disabilities. This is accomplished by working closely with the individual, family members, service coordinators, and other community agencies that support the individual. Information is gathered and then used to determine what supports need to be put in place in order for the individual to reach his/her goal(s). Some of the services requested include social experiences, health and fitness education, job placement and support, adult education, financial and budgeting skills, and the opportunity to pursue personal interests. Since people come into the program at various points in their lives, The PLUS Company is committed to being creative and customizing each service or support to fit the individual.
Some of the services offered include:
- Daily living skills, such as shopping, housekeeping, budgeting, and transportation
- Assistance with the arrangement of appointments, healthcare, and physical education
- Vocational training and supports
- Social skills and self-advocacy
- Participation in adult education programs
- Participation in clubs such as the Train Club, Weather Club, and Nature Club
- One-on-one time with PLUS Company staff to work personal problems and concerns
- Trips to the beach, museums, Boston, or even to visit family members
